Twillingate Art Purchase, Gros Morne – Norris Point and Moose Burgers
We left Twillingate this morning a little later than we had originally planned. No, not because we couldn’t get Mike out of bed – this has been an issue – but because while having breakfast at the hotel we noticed that most of the artwork on the walls was from a local artist. There were a couple of prints that we really liked so we dropped by the artist’s studio. It wasn’t opened just yet so we drove around town and worked our way back. One of the prints we saw at the hotel was available and framed. So we bit the bullet and will have one more carry-on item for the flight back. It’s a nice print of a dock and stage in Twillingate. The image above is of our print. We think it will look great in the new house and is a nice souvenir of our trip. This is actually our second print as we bought one at our B&B. That print is of Salvage and was done by the co-owner of our B&B.
It rained for about half the 5 hour trip to Gros Morne. It has been foggy and overcast since we arrived. The cottage we rented for the next three sleeps is fabulous. It has three bedrooms, a huge sitting room overlooking Bonne Bay and another family room with TV. This place is huge and comes with everything we need. I mentioned to a few family and friends that they should meet us here because I thought there would be enough room. Well there is more than enough for two families. It was totally renovated in 2004 and has a great view of the scenery.
The drive from Deer Lake was very interesting with some very large climbs and descents.
We spent the evening exploring Norris Point and Rocky Harbour. I’m sure if the fog lifts and the weather clears up there will be some spectacular views. We stopped for dinner and groceries in Rocky Harbour. I had a moose burger and it was very good. I’d order that over beef anytime!
The weather doesn’t look too great for our stay here so we will have to see what we do while here. We will still go on the Western Brook Pond tour. We’ll post again tomorrow.
Hey Bob and Family,
The blog is part of my morning ritual. I’m enjoying reading about your adventures as you travel across Newfoundland.
Say hi to Peg and the kids.
