Hockey Tryouts start tomorrow!

You know the summer is winding down when you have completed your back to school shopping and hockey tryouts are tomorrow. YIKES.

Alex is trying out for Major Atom AA. As you may know he is a goalie and loves playing the position. Good luck Alex we will be there cheering you on!!

New Backyard Deck

We have sold our hot tub as we never used it and it just sat there being maintained and costing $$$. Most of the old deck is being removed and a new deck and pergola are being installed. After removing half of the old deck (the other half is being re-used), Alex and I installed the four 6″x 6″x 14′ foot posts to build the pergola.

The next step is to build the deck around those posts. Once the deck is complete we will finish off the pergola.

Stay tuned as I add photos of this project as it progresses.

Tournament Shutout in Peterborough

Blazers celebrate tournament success in Peterborough. The kids had a good weekend in Peterborough. With wins against the Stirling Blues (3 – 2), Percy Bulldogs (1 – 0) and Rice Lake Ravens (9 – 2), the Blazers earned a spot in the semi-finals.
The semis were the third game of the day and it proved a little too much for the Blazers and their opponent, the Woodville Hurricanes as both teams looked tired. Woodville scored the only goal of the game early in the third and squeaked past the Blazers to move onto the Championship game.
The tournament featured a number of firsts for the Blazers. Their first tournament win, their first three game winning streak, their first shut-out (#28 Alex McDougall) and their first game in which every skater recorded at least one point (9 – 2 win over Rice Lake).
